Voici venu le moment de choisir entre 2 zancres: La SPADE ou La BRAKE

Les éssais sont à peu prés équivalents mais qu'en est il de la réalité?

votre question date un peu, mais peut-être n'avez vous pas acheté encore votre ancre!

La spade a été inventée et mise au point entre 1994 et 1996 par un gars qui s'apelle Alain Poiraud. Il était alors en Tunisie avec son bateau, au port de Monastir.
J'étais en Tunisie également, mais pour des raisons professionnelles: J'ai créer et mis en place la voilerie Seamtech. On y fabriquait les voiles de série sous la marque tasker. La voilerie a été revendue à Technique Voile Bretagne.
On a fait les essais de l'ancre d'alain sur la plage de monastir. Des essais sans appareils de mesure.

Ancre CQR de 12kg avec 20m de chaine de 8mm et un bout de 30m, tractée par un seul homme sur 100m, sur le sable ou bans l'eau: l'ancre a dérapée tout le temps et ne s'est jammais crochée.

Ancre spade de 7 kg avec la même chaine et même cordage, tractée sur le sable ou dans l'eau, ...
Sauf que là, elle se plante et s'enfonce dans le sable sur moins d'un mètre. On s'est mis à 4 pour tirer dessus pour essayer de la bouger, et rien n'a bougé.

A mon avis, Alain a inventé L'ANCRE idéale.

our comments on the Spade Anchor

It is now over 6 months since we changed from our Plough to the Spade which we use exclusively. When we first tried this in Nelson I was extremely
impressed and enthusiastic with its holding power in areas where a lifetime of cruising experience had shown holding with any other anchor could be
difficult. My experience since leaving Nelson and anchoring in many and varied anchorages ie Northland, Auckland, Tongatapu, Vavau, Wallis & Futuna Islands and the Western side of Fiji has convinced me that the spade anchor is vastly superior to a Plough or Danforth type. I have only limited experience with a Bruce type anchor but believe the Spade would out perform this in most bottom types. I have no experience of Delta anchors.

On occasions we have found really good holding where other cruising Yachts have had to have several goes at trying to get their anchors to hold. We always dig the anchor in very firmly by going astern with our 100HP motor and only on one occasion when anchored off Lautoka Wharf we did not get instant holding. Upon lifting the anchor for inspection we found it had wrapped itself in a large sack. One other feature which is also impressive is the way the anchor digs in and holds very rapidly when the boat is going
astern. Positive gripping and very reassuring.

Unlike the Plough anchor it is entirely self launching and self stowing which makes for easy handling.

The only negative if they could be called so are:

In some bottoms it needs all of the power of the Maxwell winch to be able to break it out particularly in mud and even then sometimes you have to stop and wait for the boat to lift the anchor vertically.
1. As it digs in so well it brings up a large quantity of the bottom material, fortunately we have an engine driven 1 1/2" Jabsco deck wash pump to assist with cleaning.

In summary it is my view the Spade anchor represents a NEXT GENERATION ANCHOR which supersedes those in general use today and when the cruising community realises their superiority we will see more and more of these on cruising yachts, particularly long term world cruiser types.

We have no hesitation in recommending this Spade and would certainly tell you if we had any reservations.
